"Major weight loss can be an extraordinary health achievement, but the skin and underlying tissues do not always contract in proportion to the amount of weight lost," said Dr. Mehrzad. Body Contouring After Major Weight Loss Addresses a Different Problem

"The procedure name is less important than understanding the pattern of tissue change," Dr. Mehrzad said. "Two patients may lose the same amount of weight and require completely different surgical plans because their skin quality, anatomy and distribution of excess tissue are different."
